About TSS and what we offer
We at Thanet Stage School of Performing Arts have been training children in the performing arts since 1976.

The school is a member of bbodance which is the new name for the British Ballet Organization which was set up in 1930 to improve standards of dance teaching. We share the bbodance mission to inspire excellence and promote the education, training and enjoyment of dance.

Thanet Stage School of Performing Arts is accredited by the Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET) and, through bbodance, offers examinations in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Musical Theatre which are regulated by Ofqual and Qualifications Wales and recognised under the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). These examinations are delivered both nationally and internationally.

In addition to regulated qualifications, the school offers bbodance Performance Awards and Freestyle Dance Awards for students who do not wish to take formal examinations.

Thanet Stage School of Performing Arts also offers examinations through Trinity College London in Drama and Singing, both in groups and individuals.
Our Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of the school is to cater for the child and to strive to develop their skills and interests, as individuals.
We aim to teach pupils, not only in performing arts, but also in life skills that will help them throughout their lives.

We train pupils in all genres to assist them go to a professional level and to follow a career if that is their wish.

The most important thing is that dance and all classes are fun and to be enjoyed in such a way that they will learn.
We appreciate the importance of pupils having an opportunity to perform on stage to audiences in order to gain confidence and stage skills. The school has for many years been putting on productions at professional theatres.

As a school we provide learning objectives that define the expected goal of the various grades from beginner to senior grades, following the syllabus set out by “bbo dance” formerly known as the British Ballet Organization.
There are added benefits of exercise, teaching discipline, and team work, listening skills and building confidence and making friendships for life.

To introduce and develop the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to provide a good training in dance and the performing arts.
